Instagram now lets you edit your comments after posting

Instagram just made a small change that’s worth celebrating: comments can now be edited after posting. Here are the details.

Instagram lets users edit comments for up to 15 minutes

Have you ever had to delete an Instagram comment and repost due to a typo?

Or maybe you just let your rage settle down a bit and wanted to tone down what you posted and quickly regretted?

Either way, Instagram has a fix.

You can now edit comments for up to 15 minutes after posting.

Here’s the official announcement from a post on X:

It’s a long overdue change, but a welcome one.

Edited comments will show that they’ve been edited. However, the original message isn’t accessible anymore. This differs from some service, such as Apple’s Messages app, where a full edit history is saved.

In other Instagram news, Meta recently announced it’s testing a paid tier that comes with a few extra benefits. I’m glad that comment edits haven’t been tied to that paid subscription.

Do you ever wish you could edit an Instagram comment? Let us know in the comments.
